Designing my Titles!

Image
Title Design The titles must be distinctive when designing my opening sequence in order to correspond with the tone the film will convey. I got a vision for the fonts and colors I wanted for my titles after viewing a number of opening scenes from thriller movies. To make them stand out in my opening sequence, my titles will have large, bold fonts. They will need to be rugged and in all caps to give the theme of a thriller. They cannot be soft and happy because the genre thriller is full of suspension and action. I plan to use a bold looking font like Gil Sans or others. For example, I may make it look something like the example below, if not exactly the same.  This is just one of the examples that will be similar to my final product, I am not entirely set on the red color. I may just go with something as simple as white or black though I do want the slightly rugged look, not a complete solid color. If I do decide to do this color scheme of black in white instead then some changes w...

Writing my Script!

Image
Shooting Script In the first scene a mother and her daughter will be seen together, the daughter in a stroller and the mother behind, pushing it. In the second scene they will be seen approaching a park, a playground area. Then the mother will be seen taking her baby out of the stroller and put down. They will then play together for a couple of scenes. The mother's phone will then ring which will be on the bench behind her, she will go to grab it. Once she turns back around to face her daughter a person in all black is seen taking her daughter. The mother then screams and runs after them. The person is shown throwing the woman's daughter into in backseat of the car and jumps into the drivers seat. The mother runs after the car on the way dropping her keys, when she reaches her car she realizes her keys had fallen. By this time the car will already be gone, the mother will be separated from her daughter. The mother then looks for her phone but remembers she dropped it by the ben...

Title Research: The Invisible Man

Image
1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?  The final opening sequence that I researched was "The Invisible Man." The sequence begins off by displaying titles for actors staring in this film. Then the titles for the follow are shown the casting director, makeup and hair designer, vfx supervisor, like producer, music director, costume designer, editor, production designer, director of photography, executive producers, producers, screenwriters, and director 2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  This opening sequence first begins with a wave being pushed into a rock which displays a few titles. The camera then tilts to a house on the hill above this large body of water. Then we are switched to a completely black background with water like lettering of the different titles. This opening sequence was very different compared to any that I researched through this experience. Since the only image that was used in this opening sequence was the ho...

Image
1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?  The third opening sequence that I researched was "The Black Phone." The sequence begins off by displaying titles for actors staring in this film. Then the titles for the follow are shown the casting directors, music directors, co producers, costume designers, editor, production designer, director of photography, executive producers, story and author based off, screenplay director, director  2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?  Since the images change for each new title, there is no one illustration that is given priority. Though I would have to say the first scene has the most priority because it is the very beginning and holds screen time the longest. It also does create suspension for the viewers because they are going to want to know what happened to the boy. 3. What connotations do these images carry?  The images carry a connotation of scary, this boy sees a van pull around the corner...

Then follow a group of men with guns, showing the backyard area of this house where many slaves are at work. A close up shot of a women laying on a horse is then shown. She jumps off and the camera is pushed into the action of a man being beaten by soldiers and a women on her knees crying. This last scene specifically was the most prioritized in my opinion because the music b...

The video in the background is of many women dancing together. They are all wearing the same costumes and also wearing the same wigs. As well as the same makeup containing a red lip.  3. The title sequence bar displayed the most recent, top picks, and classic films when I clicked on it. My Pitch!

Image
Pitch 1:  A mother and her daughter go to the park like any other day, when the mother looks away to grab something she looks back her daughter is gone. I came up with this pitch because I have a baby niece and I spend so much time with her so it would be very fun to include her in my project. Also when I was thinking of movies with a good cliffhanger, the kidnapping immediately came to my head. I personally really enjoy movies that make me want to watch more, use of a cliffhanger. When I began to think on the theme of a kidnap I did not want to use someone like my cousin who is older. I wanted a young kid which is why my baby niece came to my mind. I also see her almost everyday therefore I know I will have time to film with her.  Pitch 2: When a girl is at the mall by herself and notices someone following her, but when the person approaches her she does not go without a fight. I created this pitch because I am a young woman who does go to the mall regularly, either with som...

I will be working independently again!

Image
I'll be working by myself. I am less sidetracked and able to finish my work quite fast when I operate alone. Additionally, I don't have any friends close with whom I can arrange video sessions. Editing, recording, planning, and production of my Final Task will all be my responsibility. My schedule works better when I work alone because I don't have to stress about reaching anyone. Additionally, since I won't be depending on my group, it won't be a problem for me if someone has trouble getting a group together. I also function better alone because I like to complete my work consistently and without interruption from others. When tasks are divided and someone doesn't finish their portion, I also become anxious. It puts more pressure on me if I have to rely on someone to get my grade because they might not have the same perspective as me and might not finish their work as quickly as I do. Making my own plans and goals is preferable to working in a group because I a...

Welcome Back for my Final Task!

Image
Hi, my name is Jasmine Mendez and I am back again for my music final project! I am very excited to get back to work, I have not posted a blog in a long time. I really do enjoy this so much so having a new project to be working on is very exhilarating for me. My first project being my commercial in my opinion turned out great. It was very fun to fill and I feel had a good premise. On the other hand my music video, in my opinion was not the best. I was not happy with the outcome. Though because of that exact fact I will make this final task the best that I possibly can. I will make sure I make something I am super happy with and make up for my dislike of the last project. I will make sure to have a good storyboard to prevent my last mistakes. I believe it was because I did not like my initial composition and felt like I had to stick with it. I will not let this happen this time I will make sure to make my initial composition the best that I possibly can and try to make something I k...
