My Decision:
After researching the three different genres of thriller, drama, and horror I have decided to choose thriller for my final task project. I chose this genre because I felt it goes great with my original pitch idea. I feel it just makes sense to have the genre of thriller for my kidnapping based opening sequence. I struggled between choosing from thriller and drama for my opening sequence. I felt they both fit my kidnapping pitch very well, though in the end I did end up picking thriller. I felt these two genre were very similar but thriller had the aspect of being more specific. As drama is more of a general term used for many movies. Thriller is a genre that is supposed to keep you on the edge of your seat and full of suspense. Whereas drama can be classified as many different types of movies. I chose thriller because I love the idea of a suspenseful movie, I feel I can make it work the best with my pitch. I am also excited to use some ominous music with this genre and make it as tension building as I possibly can. The thriller's unexpected turns keep our adrenaline pumping and engage a portion of our brains that isn't typically stimulated. This is the exact type of genre I want to use in order to keep my audience completely engaged. They provide what people most want without adding risk. For some people, the adrenaline rush and fight-or-flight reaction that are transferred through the interactions of the fictional actors that they can connect to are so powerful that it is comparable to doing something real themselves. Thriller just personally seems like the best genre in my opinion. For my viewers and for myself to create. I know that this genre will allow me to explore a very fun version of media.
