Title Research: The Black Phone
1. What titles are displayed during the opening sequences?
The third opening sequence that I researched was "The Black Phone." The sequence begins off by displaying titles for actors staring in this film. Then the titles for the follow are shown the casting directors, music directors, co producers, costume designers, editor, production designer, director of photography, executive producers, story and author based off, screenplay director, director
2. What images are prioritized in the opening sequence?
Since the images change for each new title, there is no one illustration that is given priority. Though I would have to say the first scene has the most priority because it is the very beginning and holds screen time the longest. It also does create suspension for the viewers because they are going to want to know what happened to the boy.
3. What connotations do these images carry?
The images carry a connotation of scary, this boy sees a van pull around the corner then stop suddenly when close to him. The viewers do not know what happened to the boy and this can be scary. It can also create suspense for the viewer and make them want to watch more.
4. How does the film establish a feeling of the genre from the outset?
Unseen Threats, as the camera pans around the structure, dimly lit shadowy figures and enigmatic shapes can be made out. These unidentified entities arouse fear and suspense by suggesting the possibility of the terror and violence that characterize the thriller sub genre. The van for example that stopped suddenly in front of that boy on his bike at the very first scene.
5. What strategies are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?
A number of classic horror images, including an abandoned and decaying building, dim hallways, and menacing shadows, can be seen in the opening sequence. These pictures are intended to grab horror fans' attention right away and pique their interest in what's to come. Several visual cues to what is to come are included in the opening sequence. These cues are meant to pique interest and build anticipation in the viewer.
6. How has technology been used effectively? You want to consider camera angles, transitions and editing techniques.
The audience can see every detail of the scene thanks to the zoom movement, which also captures the scene's intensity. The movie also employs a close-up perspective that compels viewers to focus on the scene's finer details. Because both of these perspectives significantly affect the comprehension and engagement of the audience, they both serve an important purpose. The zoom movement and close up effectively capture the audience's attention by bringing the scene's details into close focus. One of the most effective methods is the use of ominous sounds, which excite the audience because they are so suspenseful and fast paced.
