Second day of editing!

Image
As I continue to edit, my excitement to see the final product grows. The idea that the video I've been gathering over the past few weeks will soon be put together into a finished work is astounding. I added all the transitions today to ensure a smooth workflow. I also added the music, which was just a standard piece of menacing music that grew more menacing over time. Given that my short film revolves around a kidnapping, I thought this best encapsulated its essence. Because of the music, the audience can tell right away that something horrible is going to happen. However, until it actually happens, they are unable to know for sure. Because of the exact element that this music creates for my viewers, I felt that it could keep them more engaged. I find that the suspense element can be quite captivating. All of this reminds me of how I chose my pitch idea: I wanted it to be interesting. Not something dull, but something that would entice my viewers to keep watching was what I was goi...

First day of editing!

Image
I am incredibly eager to begin editing. The first day of editing began today, which was very exciting for me because it means I can now finally see how my final project will look. I'm using iMovie once more, just like I did with my previous AS level projects. It was my first time using it, so I was able to use it much more easily than for my music video, but now that I've used it, I have experience. One of the reasons this editing process has been easier than my previous iMovie experiences is that I had better knowledge of the program from my previous work. I was able to start working right away as a result of not having to spend a lot of time learning how to use the various tools. I already had all of my shots added to iMovie's "My Movie" section. In order to avoid having trouble finding them when I started the actual editing, I inserted them as soon as I finished filming. Today, I rearranged them according to their proper order and removed any extraneous clips. ...

Editing Pushed Back

Image
Unfortunately I am having to push my hoped editing days back. I was unable to get to editing today because I had lots of homework I needed to complete, I also had a family event that also took some of my time. It was unfortunate but it is not that big of a deal. I have been really busy with lots of school work. Exams are coming up which has me under a lot of stress. I have been having many mock exams that i’ve needed to study for. This is a reason that I have not had any time to edit. Upcoming I have many deadlines for study guides and test. It is crunch time right now because of all of my exams. All of my major exams are all within a month. Whether it's attending a lecture, finishing an assignment, or studying for an exam, there always seems to be something that needs to be done. I've been struggling to keep up with everything because of the continuous pressure to perform well. I'm still determined to perform well and pass my exams in spite of everything. I've been wor...

Last Day of Filming!

Image
I am very excited to say this was my final day of filming!  This was so exciting because I now can start editing. Todays filming was slightly longer than the other days of filming. This was because I filmed six storyboards rather than two like I did for the past two filming days. Today wraps up my filming journey, a journey filled with excitement, challenges, and countless memories. The final scenes shot today serve as the closing chapter to a story that began with storyboard pages and evolved into a masterpiece. This film is not just a collection of scenes but a testament to perseverance, passion, and the collaborative spirit. The anticipation for the final product is met with a mix of pride and humility, knowing that this cinematic creation is the result of a dedicated piece of hard work. This being the final day was very exciting for me but it was also sad because I know this is my last project. I feel this class has definitely made me want to do things like this in my free...

Filming Again!

Image
Today I did my second round of filming I did the following two storyboard, so numbers three and four. I had a lot of fun again filming with my sister, cousin, and aunt. I experimented with different camera angles and techniques to add variety to the visual storytelling. Reviewing the footage at the end of the day, I was pleased to see the story come to life on screen. The feedback and suggestions from my sister, cousin, and aunt proved invaluable in refining our performances and shots. Taking breaks in between filming allowed us to recharge and maintain a high level of enthusiasm throughout the day. Our shared laughter and inside jokes created a positive and relaxed atmosphere, contributing to authentic on-screen chemistry. The project has become a bonding experience, strengthening the familial ties between myself, my sister, cousin, and aunt. As the director, I learned more about effective communication and leadership, ensuring a smooth workflow on set. Our collabor...

Let's Get Filming!

Image
I have finally begun filming after all of my unfortunate setbacks! I am so excited to say that I have begun filming my short film! Filming with my family makes filming so much fun, we laughed so much and I was able to tell them exactly how I felt about the filming process. If I needed my actors to tweak something they were doing I was not afraid of telling them that. Today I filmed two of my storyboards, I plan to film two for the next four days till they are all completed. In addition to ensuring steady progress, this slow pacing enables me to fully explore the subtleties of every scene. It's a chance to highlight the nuances of the story, focus on the technical aspects of the film, and inject imagination into each frame. Even though they can be demoralizing, failures can teach us important lessons. My appreciation for the filmmaking process has only grown as a result of my previous struggles, which have also strengthened my resolve to overcome obstacles. I view every challenge as...

Update!

Image
Another setback unfortunately can up. I was unable to record again because I had to travel up to Orlando where my cousin lives in order to record with her. My sister was going to also come down from Tallahassee to be in my film. There was a big storm from Tallahassee to Orlando therefore my sister could not come down and will be coming down tomorrow. I will hopefully be able to film starting tomorrow! It was initially discouraging to experience this setback, as the unanticipated storm interfered with my sister's travel plans and delayed the commencement of filming. But I'm determined not to let this setback affect the caliber of my movie. It's important to understand that these difficulties are a part of the film industry and sometimes even present unexpected creative opportunities. Despite the fact that the storm interfered with my original plans, I saw this as an opportunity to review and improve some aspects of the project. This unanticipated delay presents a chance to i...

Schedule Change

Image
Unfortunately, I was unable to film on the days I had scheduled. This was due to a number of factors, including the illness of my cousin, who was meant to be one of the sisters in my movie. As such, on the days I had planned to film with her, we were unable to. I refuse to allow this regrettable incident to continue to affect me. I just rescheduled my filming days to a few days later than I had originally intended. I know I will still have enough time to film all the shots I need, so this isn't really a setback. I have plenty of time, so even though I've missed a few days, I still have a good chance of finishing this project. I will continue to do my absolute best work. In addition, I've had a ton of homework from my other classes. I've been so busy with school that I haven't had time to film. It was imperative that I completed the remaining tasks. That being said, it does not lessen my value in this project. I intend to complete this assignment with the same fervor...
