Editing Blog: Crocs
Editing Blog
I was very eager to edit because I wanted to see my entire project finally come together after so much planning. Therefore, I edited the day after I filmed because I wanted to get it done, I would have edited it the same day, but I was busy with other work as well. I first needed to find an editing software to use and so I was going to use imovie because I have mac but unfortunately my mac is too old to use it. I had to do some research on different video editors, and I found clip champ which I liked the best. I edited the first scene with seven different clips, I needed to put all of them together and alter the time, so it appeared like they were magically changing colors. For the second scene I used my filmed clip and adding text over it that stated, "Relaxed Mode". This was to show that the crocs were in relaxed mode with the strap around the front rather than the back. I added a blur transition after this to merge the next scene. In the third scene I edited the word "SPORTS MODE" over the center to emphasize they can be used to run as well. I added a left push transition from this scene to the next one. I added a left push transition because she was running in the scene before, so I looked like she ran into the next scene. Then it slid into the next scene which was throwing the Jibbitz into screen from the top. I added text to this that said, "Jibbitz". Then I added a cross blur transition for the next scene to smoothly change. The next scene was a high angle of my cousin placing the Jibbitz into the crocs. Therefore, I added text that said, "Customize with Jibbitz". I also added a cross blur transition after this scene to merge the next one. For the final scene, I used a video of my cousin standing still smiling while holding the crocs. This scene had the most editing done because I wanted to make sure I used the right font for the ending scene that had their "Crocs COME AS YOU ARE" logo on it. Therefore, I found an image with their logo on it in green with a transparent background. I put this image over the one of my cousin holding the crocs. I then found a plain white image and placed that above the clip of my cousin but under the Crocs logo name. I did this because I wanted the Crocs logo to be apparent the entire scene duration but did not want the white background to do the same. I wanted the white background to slowly fade in, to clearly show my cousin at the beginning and the Crocs logo at the end. I made the white image fade in and with completion of fading in at the end of the scene to do that. Lastly, I added music to the entire commercial. I added an upbeat happy sound from the music section of the editing software I used. I made sure to add a fade out at the end of this song so that the music did not just stop abruptly.
